Sitgo

The electric walking bike

Simply go to the shop yourself again, visit friends or take a turn around the park. The Sitgo is the electric walking bike for anyone who has difficulty walking but still wants to get out independently. You sit low and stable, with your feet flat on the ground, and the motor does the rest.

How easy it is to ride a Sitgo

  1. Take a seatThanks to the low frame, you simply step on. You sit on a sprung saddle and can keep both feet flat on the ground.
  2. Push off under your own powerGive a small push with your feet, just as on an ordinary walking bike. Then place your feet on the footboard.
  3. The Sitgo takes overOnce you are moving, the motor kicks in. With the throttle you decide how fast you go.

The motor only helps once you have pushed off yourself. This way the Sitgo never pulls away unexpectedly if you accidentally touch the throttle while stationary.

Low and stable

No high crossbar to step over and your feet always close to the ground. That gives peace of mind and confidence, even when walking or cycling is no longer possible.

Electric, no pedalling

A 36V Van Beijck motor and a lithium-ion battery take you effortlessly wherever you want. You do not have to pedal: pushing off and using the throttle is enough.

Is the Sitgo right for you?

The Sitgo is for people who can still walk, but for whom longer distances are becoming too much. For example because of arthrosis or rheumatism, COPD, mild balance problems, recovery after knee or hip surgery or simply poorer fitness. You stay independent: to the shop, visiting friends or a trip around the block.

You want to stay active

A mobility scooter still feels too soon for you. On the Sitgo you push off yourself and your legs keep moving. And it does not look like a medical aid.

The rollator is no longer enough

Short stretches are still fine, but going further becomes difficult. The Sitgo is compact and manoeuvrable, fits in the shed, and with a range of 50 km or more you can really get somewhere again.

You choose comfort and quality

With the luxury options of the Ultimate, such as the thumb throttle with leather-look grips and a matching saddle, you make it entirely your own Sitgo.

Regulations & insurance

Everything you need to know about number plates, insurance and the MDR certification before you take your Sitgo out on the public road. Click a question for the answer.

Does my Sitgo need a number plate?

No. The Sitgo is a motorised mobility aid and does not fall under the moped or light moped categories. A number plate is therefore not required.

Does it need a yellow insurance sticker?

Yes. As with other motorised mobility aids, you are legally required to take out third-party liability insurance. As proof you receive a yellow insurance sticker. You attach it to the back of the Sitgo before you go out on the public road.

What does the MDR certification mean?

The Sitgo is certified under the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR) 2017/745. This means:

  • Legal category: the Sitgo officially falls under medical device / motorised vehicle for disabled people, comparable to an MDR-certified mobility scooter.
  • Freedom of use: you may use the Sitgo in places where an ordinary bicycle is not allowed, such as on the pavement and in public buildings, as long as you do not obstruct others.
Is my Sitgo MDR-certified?

You can tell by the frame number: all MDR-certified Sitgos have a frame number that starts with 2302. You will find the frame number on the underside of the frame, on the right-hand side.

Where can I insure my Sitgo?

With various insurers, for example Univé.

Tip: many insurers, including Univé, regard the Sitgo as an open mobility scooter if the user is considered to have a disability. As a result, the Sitgo does not have to meet the requirement of a vehicle with 3 or 4 wheels to qualify for third-party liability insurance.

Can I take the Sitgo abroad?

Outside the Netherlands the rules differ per country. Always check the local rules for vehicles for disabled people before you cross the border.
